The Importance of Record Inner Sleeves in Ongoing Vinyl Care
If you’re a passionate audiophile who collects vinyl records, you want to make sure that your collection can stand the test of time. After all, an extensive vinyl record collection can be a significant investment of time – and money. That’s why it’s so important to use vinyl record inner sleeves to maintain the integrity of your records and ensure that they’ll sound sweet for years to come.
Read on to learn some simple measures you can take to protect your records, including using inner acid-free paper sleeves like ours.
Cleaning Your Vinyl Records
The first line of defense for your vinyl collection is keeping the records themselves clean. That means periodically using a soft microfiber brush to wipe away any dust and giving the record a visual inspection under a bright light to locate scratches, smudges, or other blemishes. If you notice a problem area, use a vinyl-safe cleaning fluid, such as the one included in our vinyl record cleaning kit, and buff it out using a soft, circular motion.
But once you’ve taken the time to clean your record, the last thing you want to do is put it back into an old, yellowed, torn paper sleeve; replacing your inner sleeves every few years is necessary if you want to keep your vinyl spinning smoothly. Note that if you do see sleeves that have yellowed, unlike Big Fudge’s, that may mean you purchased non-archival quality sleeves.
Replacing the Inner Sleeves For Your Records
When you’re putting your vinyl records away, using an intact inner sleeve is critical to its preservation. When records are slipped back into their album covers without a sleeve, they collect dust and static, and are more likely to scratch, crack, and split.
At Big Fudge, our high quality, bright white record inner sleeves are made from heavyweight paper that is both acid and alkaline free. Our record sleeves feature exterior seams instead of interior seams which makes pulling the record in and out of the sleeve easy, while also putting a lot less wear and tear on the sleeve itself. Our sleeves use rounded corners rather than square, so you can be sure it will fit inside any type of vinyl album cover.
We offer record sleeves for both 7 inch and 12 inch records, and both are available in packs of 50x or 100x.
Don’t Stop Thinkin’ About Protection
Upgrading your record inner sleeve is a great first start to protecting your vinyl collection, but it’s important to protect the outside of your records, too. Our crystal clear outer sleeves will keep that precious cover artwork pristine, and our 4-in-1 cleaning kit can tackle any dust or dirt that clings to your vinyl records when they come out to play.
At Big Fudge, we’re committed to providing you with the tools you need to keep your records safe. If you have any questions, contact us for any other questions you might have.
